Blackpoolrobo is a robotics competition that aims to encourage secondary school students to build an innovative robust robot and compete in a pre-designed arena with space and time constraints, utilizing their academic knowledge and technical skills. The competition will focus on the technical feasibility, efficiency, and innovativeness of the proposed solution, as well as on testing the creativity of the participants. The competition is open to secondary students from Key Stage 3. Each school can only enter 2 teams. Each team should comprise between 1 and 5 members. A timeline of the event can be found here.
The challenge consists of six rounds for Key Stage 3. Information regarding the tasks in each round can be found here. Each round is inspired by iconic landmarks in Blackpool and around the Fylde Coast. Participants need to complete all rounds sequentially and will receive scores for each task. The final will take place at Blackpool & the Fylde College Advanced Technology Centre, Ashfield Road, Bispham, FY2 0HB.
The rounds will take place on an arena map which will be provided on the day of the final. They will be allowed to reconfigure their robots between each round. The winning team from each school who has successfully progressed and participated in the final round will receive a prize and a certificate. Full prize details can be found here.
